Daleswalker originally started life as a site constructed by a walker and lover of the Northern dales for walkers and visitors to enjoy and share some of the footpaths and countryside of upper Swaledale. However the site has begun to evolve into something more than just a series of references for walkers. This is perhaps because the author lives there now and he is able to share not only his passion for walking, but more in depth information about the surrounding environment and how it's begun to leave it's mark and influences up on him. The site opens a door on Swaledale to everyone to share its stunning scenery and wildlife, there are photographs a plenty and lots of general information to browse. Walking will always be the site's mainstay and there are ten of the best walks listed for you to try. More will follow because it is undoubtedly the best way to experience the stunning scenery and wildlife that inhabits the fells. There is of course lots of regular updates and new articles and entries to read and enjoy.

This is not a professional or commercial site, it has no links with any Dales organisations. It is built by a novice webmaster with a passion for the area and a enthusiasm to learn new computer skills. My mission for the site has always been to bring together walkers and visitors alike who are regulars or thinking about visiting the Yorkshire Dales for the first time.

My aim is to encourage people to make a contribution and many already do so. So share your walks and memories of your visits and make suggestions on the format and future articles you would like to see included. I promise I will publish the interesting ones. Please feel free to browse and e-mail me with your comments and ideas for future items but most of all....  enjoy the site and don't leave it too long before you visit the area.

I'm receiving emails asking for more pictures, so I've put in a link to my new pictures site at flickr, there's lots of photographs of the dales and others further afield from my walking trips elsewhere.
